Eric Vorm

Michigan-based equipment manufacturing Vice President and General Manager

About

Eric Vorm is the Vice President and General Manager of a major Michigan-based packaging and equipment manufacturing group of companies, with over 35 years of experience in this field. He has grown tremendously in his industry, starting in sales and moving onto engineering, ownership, and finally director of one of the Pro Mach groups, a major player in product manufacturing and distribution. His business specializes in incorporating the latest technologies with robust design methodologies, in order to produce products that are highly efficient and reliable and that require minimal maintenance.

Eric entered his field by chance. He opened a video store after graduating from college, and one of his biggest clients owned a packaging machinery company. After selling his store, he was able to secure a job with the business. He had always been interested in technology, and had loved taking things apart and putting them back together as a hobby. He studied business in college, and this opportunity seemed like a perfect mix between his studies and interests. He now has the chance to work with skilled sales consultants, electrical and mechanical design engineers, machinists, assemblers and field service technicians, who are all intent on exceeding their clients’ expectations.

Packaging Industry

Though the term “packaging” seems relatively straightforward, it is actually rather complex and includes several phases. Eric deals in end-of-line packaging: his company build machinery for other companies to construct their own packaging, for goods like dairy, foodstuffs, or pharmaceuticals. Many of Eric’s clients are Fortune 500 companies: he provides high-end equipment, that works at a high speed. He has worked with Procter & Gamble, Kraft, Unilever, and many more. When Procter & Gamble created a new shampoo line, Eric’s company built equipment that would produce the new shampoo bottles for the product.

Eric’s company predominantly builds machinery for the production of bottled water and distribution packaging. The latter is not seen in stores, but serves primarily for transportation purposes. They are intent to cut down on waste: their two central preoccupations are to save money, and to improve their carbon footprint. They use recycled material whenever possible, and endeavor to have a positive impact on the environment.

Eric enjoys working in an industry that lives outside of the public eye. He has been able to master a variety of different disciplines through his work, from management to engineering. He has had the opportunity to work with a number of high-profile companies, and to be involved in their distribution process. Eric also enjoys golfing, swimming, and snowmobiling in his spare time.
